Tooth Number 3 in 3 weeks :)

So far Sawyer's pattern is one tooth a week on either Saturday or Sunday. Sawyer's top left tooth is now working it's way in. I'm pretty sure his top right one will follow soon. This tooth has been the hardest for him to cut so far. He has been waking up at 2:00 am the past couple of nights screaming like he is in pain and won't go back to sleep. So we get up take tylenol put on some teething gel and then Sawyer gives me the look of, "So.. ya wanna play for a bit?" I put Sawyer on the ground with a few toys, hoping to wear him out so he will go back to bed. For about 30 minutes Sawyer scoots himself from toy to toy and yesterday learned how to scoot or push himself backwards. Last night from 2-4am he scooted around and worked on crawling skills. He eventually wore himself out and went back to bed. This time he slept from 4-9. Itwasn't awful, I just hate that he hurts so bad. Here are a few pictures from yesterday:

It's the Simple Things in Life...

... like watching clothes dry :)

6 Month Check Up

Sawyer finally had his 6 month check up after the weather made his appointment the day before he turned 7 months old. Everything turned out great! He had to get shots, which didn't make him happy at all. However he was fine after the shots and smiling at the receptionist on the way out. While we were there Sawyer was able to get more medicine for his reflux and the doctor said that he has a yeast infection so we got diaper cream for that :). Sawyer weighed 18.4 pounds and was in the 48th percentile, his height was 26 1/2 inches and was in the 31st percentile, and his head circumference was 44 cm and was in the 41st percentile. Thank you God for a healthy baby, I'm so thankful.
I was only feeding Sawyer 2 meals of baby food a day and yesterday I bumped it up to 3 meals after talking to the pediatrician. I'm not sure if it was three meals a day or having reflux medicine again or both that made Sawyer go to bed at 10:00pm and wake up at 8:00 am, eat breakfast play a bit, and then go back to bed at 9:00am for a nap and sleep for at least an hour so far. I know I feel like a new person after sleeping like that last night! It's beautiful here lately, in the 70's and it's supposed to be pretty close to 80 today. Sawyer and I will definitely be getting outside!

It's the Little Things in Life...

My Mom left yesterday for Oregon. I was so sad to see her go so were Sawyer and Howie. Howie sniffed all over for her when I got back from the airport and Sawyer kept looking on the couch to see if she was there. Not long and I'll see her again it's just hard to have her leave after having such a wonderful trip. I treasure every moment I get with my mom and I'm very thankful for the special relationship that I have with her. Yesterday and today have been quiet and a bit lonely. I'm thankful I have my son to smile and cheer me up. I got back from the airport and cried because I missed my mom so much and of course Sawyer just started to laugh at me which made me smile and laugh back at him. Either I look very goofy when I cry or he sensed how sad I felt and wanted to make me happy, I think I'll go with both. I'm also very thankful for all of the time I get to spend with Sawyer. I know it's difficult for Matt to be away and not to be here to see the changes that Sawyer is going through. I'm happy he will be home soon.

Sawyer really laughs out loud more every day. It's been fun to dance around the kitchen, make funny noises and silly face, play peek-a-boo, and sing silly songs to make him laugh. He truly lights up my world and brings a happiness to my life that cannot be explained in words. I love seeing the world, or trying to see the world through his eyes. It's the smallest things in life that are important. It's not the expensive toy that matters it's just the noise of the plastic fruit snack wrapper that is fun to play with, or the grocery list to crinkle up in his hands (and attempt to put it in his mouth), and it's not the nice clothes because he's happy in anything, even naked. He smiles at everyone he sees and attempts to talk with his little noises. It really is amazing the life lessons you can learn from a child. I love how he has no worries. I hope that no matter how old he gets or the life experiences that he has, he can still view the world this way.

I better get some sleep while I can, goodnight.

First Tooth!!!!!!

Exciting news today! Sawyer's first tooth finally broke through. It's on the bottom and his left only a little tiny bump. My Mom and I went to the Verizon store and Sawyer's pacifier fell out of his mouth so I bent down to pick it up and stick it back in, as he opened his mouth I saw white! So of course in Verizon I couldn't contain my excitement and yelled to my mom that Sawyer had his first tooth. The man helping us just stood and watched as we were both excited and trying to rub our finger on the tooth and get a good look inside of his moth. So to the man at Verizon, thank you for being patient and allowing us to enjoy the moment. Surprisingly Sawyer slept pretty well last night, went to bed at 12 woke up at 3, 7, and 10. He wasn't really fussy except a little bit this morning. He was a happy little guy for cutting a tooth. I can only pray that all of the others come in that easily :).

Today is my Mom's last full day here, I have to take her to the airport tomorrow morning. It has been such a fun time together I really hate to see her leave it hurts my heart. However I'm so thankful that we had this time together and I'll get to see her soon. We have a special relationship that only grows stronger with the distance between us and thankfully for technology we get to stay in contact. Skype sure is a lifesaver so she can still watch Sawyer grow up. Skype has been really nice with Matt being gone. Over Skype he can still watch Sawyer try new foods for the first time, see Sawyer smile as he talks to him, and see how much he changes every day.. and of course see my face as well :).

Sawyer's first Superbowl is tonight also! I'm looking forward to watching it with him, he'll watch the game and I'll watch the commercials that's my favorite part and Sawyer just likes all of the movement that goes on during football. Tonight I'll try and get a picture of the tiny bit of tooth that is in Sawyer's mouth.

Snow Day Number 4

We are on our 4th snow day pajama day.. I think we are all starting to go crazy being trapped inside. We got about 6 inches of snow on top of ice and our apartment complex has not shoveled any of the snow. I wonder if they own shovels here in Texas? Just kidding, but I have a feeling if I could just make it out of the parking lot the roads would be much better. Tomorrow it is supposed to be warmer out and hopefully the snow and ice will start to melt. I'm thankful that my mom was here to be with me while being snowed in. I'm a little disappointed we didn't get to get out and do as much. Luckily she got to spend a lot of quality time with Sawyer and I. Sawyer slept until 11:00am today. WOW! He didn't go to bed until 1 am last night though. He slept from 1-7 and about 7:15 until 11. Not bad, now if Howie would just let me sleep and stop waking me up at 7:45 every morning. I think my next purchase is going to be a kennel for him. We had one back in Tennessee that he slept in, but then he outgrew it. I guess that's what we get for getting a dog and a baby at the same time. I love Howie and I'm excited that Sawyer and Howie get to grow up together, but seriously.. what was I thinking?!? :)

Old Pictures

Sawyer is playing in his exersaucer right now and I started thinkingabout how things have changed so much in 6 months. It's amazing how he is growing and changing so fast. Which then made me realize I never posted any of my maternity pictures because I didn't have this blog at the time. Some people have already seen these pictures, but this blog is for Sawyer to be able to go back and read when he is older. So, Sawyer.. these pictures are for you to look back and see when you are older. These wonderful photo's are from Amelia J Moore Photography. You should all check out her amazing pictures on www.ameliajmoore.com.

Snow Day.. Snow Day.. Snow Day...

Yes, that is right we are on our 3rd snow day. This means our 3rd day of being trapped at home and our 3rd day of wearing pajamas all day (don't worry they are clean ones each day). My mom is still in town and we are having the coldest temperatures that Texas has seen in 15 years and the longest streak of cold temperatures in 22 years. I'm a little disappointed because we can't get out and do very much, however it makes me very thankful that we got out every day last week and did things. I can't believe how beautiful the weather was here last week! Sawyer, my mom, and I all ate lunch outside. I think I'm finding out that the changes in Texas weather from one day to the next are even crazier than the changes in Nebraska weather.

Sawyer has now moved on from eating avocado's to banana's and now to sweet potatoes. So far sweet potatoes are his favorite! I can't say I'm enjoying changing those poopy diapers though they are stinky and thick (sorry for the detail). He really enjoys making raspberry noises while he has sweet potatoes in his mouth.. which makes for a mess of sweet potatoes. It's fun watching him chew liquid and see how proud of himself he is while he eats. He was supposed to have his 6 month check-up yesterday and get shots, but he was saved by the snow. We had to reschedule it for next week when this weather is (hopefully) out of here. I think we have another storm headed our way and it looks like it's supposed to come on Monday when my mom is supposed to leave. Maybe this means she will get to stay a little longer with us? :)
